Declaration Of Surviving Soldier For Pension. Act Of February 14, 1871 State of Georgia, Hall County.
On this 29th day of April, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and seventy one, personally appeared before me (1) John Wayne Clerk of the Superior Court a court of record within and for the County and State aforesaid (2) Samuel Fraser, age 81years, a resident of Hall County, and the State of Georgia, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is married; (3) that his wife's name is Bethsheba Hamilton to whom he was married at Pendleton, S.C. on the 17th day of September 1809; that he served the full period of sixty days in the (4) Military service of the United States in the War of 1812; that he is the identical Samuel Fraser who (5) was drafted in Captain Moses Thompson Company. Col Copeland 3rd Regiment, Johnson Brigade, Division, at Wilson County in the State of Tennessee, on the first day of January, 1814, and was honorably discharged at Fayetteville, Tennessee, on the tenth day of May 1814. That (6) he was marched to Huntsville, Ga., he then marched to Fort Deposit (near Montgomery, AL), then on to Fort Strother (near the Coosa River in St. Clair County, Alabama), and Fort Williams (near the Coosa River, Talladega Springs, AL). That he has received a land warrant in consignment of said services. Act of 3rd of March 1855, and the he has not sold assets or transferred said warrant and cannot --------? that he at no time during the late rebellion against the authority of the United States, adhered to the cause of the enemies of the Government, giving them aid and comfort, or exercised the functions of nay office whatever under any authority or pretended authority in hostility to the United States; and that he will support the Constitution of the United States; the he is not in receipt of a pension under any previous act; (7) that he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension-roll of the United States under the provisions of the Act of February 14, 1871; and he hereby constitutes and appoints; with full power of substitution and revocation, CHARLES C. TUCKER OF WASHINGTON, D.C., his true and lawful Attorney, to prosecute his claim and obtain the pension certificate that may be issued; that his post office is at Hog Mountain, County of Hall, State of Georgia, and that his domicile or place of abode is Hall County, GA.
