Shoal Creek Baptist Church
The original Shoal Creek Baptist Church was near today's Shadburn Ferry Road at Shoal Creek near the Chattahoochee River, now mostly under Lake Sidney Lanier, in Lower Hall Co. GA. This is almost on the Gwinnett, Forsyth and Hall Counties boundary lines, but in Hall Co. The footings for the old Church are visible today, when the Lake level is low enough, on one of the main Islands in the Lake.
According to the plaque marker placed on the front of the New Shoal Creek Church, just across the County line in Gwinnett Co. GA, reads; "SHOAL CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH CONSTITUED 1823 This Building Erected Dec. 15, 1956 Dedicated to God This Day May 19, 1963"
Our Samuel B. Crow, along with Silas King, Minister of the Gospel, reportedly help establish the orginal old Shoal Creek Baptist Church and served as an ordained Deacon, Clerk and charter member there as well. One record also states Samuel B. Crow was also licensed to preach. It is also reported that Silas King, M.G., and Samuel B. Crow, help establish two additional Baptist Churches in the lower Hall Co. area, Friendship in Hall Co. and Island Ford, "The Ford" being in nearby Gwinnett Co. GA. For people that were buried at the old Church Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, see Cemeteries listings at this Hall Co. site.
