Vennie Mae McNabb Ledford

Funeral services for Vennie Mae McNabb Ledford, 91, of Demorest were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Holland and the Rev. Russ Barker officiated with burial in Yonah Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Ledford died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at Chatuge Regional Hospital. Born in Towns County on April 10, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Virgle Peyton and Julia Corn McNabb. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Ledford; and grandson, Bobby Raper. Mrs. Ledford was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Demorest. urvivors include her children, Eulene Ledford Lanning of Hiawassee, Elva Dean Ledford Gunn of Demorest, Willaree Ledford Johnson of Cornelia, Brenda Ledford Raper of Mt. Airy, Pastor Harold H. Ledford of Hiawassee, Judy Ledford Word of Laurenburg, N.C.; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family. Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest was in charge of arrangements. (The Northeast Georgian January 3, 2003)
